SUBJECT:

The pandemic has forced us to physically isolate from our communities, loved ones, colleagues, and clients as we transition our professional lives to an online format that most of us were unprepared for and unfamiliar with.

Dr. Rebecca Jorgensen has a wealth of knowledge and experience in this area and she will join Dr. Sam Jinich in a conversation about how to continue to work in emotionally focused ways under these ongoing conditions.  Case studies that are challenging to online formats will also be addressed. We invite you to join your colleagues from our amazing NCCEFT community on Saturday May 23rd, 2020 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm PDT. The meeting will take place via Zoom and will be recorded for those that may not be able to attend.

How do we remain connected and as effective as EFT therapists with our clients when we are forced to see them through a piece of glass? We were so used to sitting close to our clients and experiencing the power of our RISSSC stance made even more powerful by the physical closeness and the occasional physical touch or gesture. As many cities around the world begin the experiment of reopening for business many of us are wondering how, if we are allowed to re-open our practices, will we ever do EFT as well if we are also required to sit 5-6 feet apart from our clients? How will we feel when we see all that they touch in our offices and wonder if we are at risk? Can we trust them to not be sick or to wonder if they have fears of touching furniture that has been touched by other clients?

After two months of facing this new reality, what are you discovering? What are your challenges and surprises? Rebecca and Sam will lead off with a conversation between them about ways to cultivate the power of EFT in this new format, ways of meeting new challenges (e.g. greater volatility, interruptions, interrupting, tech phobias, exhaustion, self-of-therapist issues and distractibility, starting with new clients this way) and we encourage you to join the conversation. Are we as EFT therapists uniquely positioned to help preserve interpersonal connection?

In this community online meeting we will use the “breakout room” feature of the Zoom platform in order to have smaller more intimate group discussions. We will then come back together and share in the larger group. We hope to see many of you there and until we meet again in person, we wish you all much health, happiness and safety.

NCCEFT PROGRAM GRIEVANCE AND REFUND POLICY:

The Northern California Community for Emotionally Focused Therapy (NCCEFT) is fully committed to conducting all activities in strict conformance with the American Psychological Association's Ethical Principles of Psychologists. NCCEFT will comply with all legal and ethical responsibilities to be non-discriminatory in promotional activities, program content and in the treatment of program participants.  The monitoring and assessment of compliance with these standards will be the responsibility of the CPA PAS CE Program Director in consultation with the Board of Directors (Steering Committee).

While NCCEFT works to assure fair treatment for all participants and attempts to anticipate problems, there will be occasional issues which will require intervention and/or action on the part of NCCEFT. This procedural description serves as a guideline for handling such complaints.

When a participant, either orally or in written format, files a grievance and expects action on the complaint, the following actions will be taken:

1. If the complaint concerns a speaker, the content presented by the speaker, or the style of presentation, the individual filing the complaint will be asked to put his/her comments in written format. The CE Program Director will then pass on the comments to the speaker, assuring the confidentiality of the aggrieved individual.

2. If the complaint concerns a workshop offering, its content, level of presentation, or the facilities in which the workshop was offered, the CE Program Director will mediate and will be the final arbitrator. If the participant requests action during a workshop or conference, the CE Program Director or his/her representative will:

a. attempt to rectify the situation, and/or

b. provide a credit for a subsequent presentation, in the event of a program having an attendance fee or

c. provide a partial or full refund of the registration fee, in the event of a program having an attendance fee.

Actions 2b and 2c will require a written note, documenting the grievance, for record keeping purposes. The note need not be signed by the aggrieved individual.

3. If the grievance concerns the business practices of the NCCEFT CE program in a specific regard, the CE Program Director or Administrator will attempt to arbitrate.

REFUND AND ATTENDANCE POLICY:

In the event that a program presentation has an attendance fee, CANCELLATIONS should be made 48 hours prior to the event.
